Elegy matters for Blazing Scream Warlocks in Diablo 4 because it turns the skill into an Archfiend Skill, adds a 30% to 50% damage multiplier, and grants Skull Splitter without spending the related skill point. Its Lesser Demon skulls also deal the same damage as the main skull, making the sword a substantial change to how the attack works. Planning an upgrade budget around D4 Gold starts with identifying which equipment effects your build needs.
What changes when you equip Elegy
The Season 15, patch 3.2.2 version of Elegy combines a direct damage increase with a change to Blazing Scream's skill classification. Archfiend is a skill category that determines which related effects can apply to the attack. Elegy also carries a bonus of +3 to Blazing Scream.
Skull Splitter adds smaller skulls to the attack. Elegy grants that variant automatically and raises those Lesser Demon skulls to the main skull's damage value. That combination explains why evaluating the sword only by its weapon damage misses much of its purpose.
Why pair it with Infernal Homunculus
Infernal Homunculus supports the Archfiend version of Blazing Scream by increasing Archfiend damage and activating Lesser Demon upgrades associated with Archfiend skills. Elegy supplies the skill classification that connects Blazing Scream to those effects. This interaction is the reason the two items appear together in Season 15 Blazing Scream setups.
When choosing your next upgrade, treat that interaction as a reason to inspect your whole setup. Check whether your supporting effects apply to Archfiend skills and whether Blazing Scream is the attack you intend to build around. A sword with a useful effect for this configuration does not automatically suit every Warlock skill arrangement.
Positioning still affects the result
Blazing Scream's projectiles can bounce off walls, creating opportunities to strike enemies again. Enclosed spaces therefore give the attack a different pattern of hits from open areas. Elegy's additional skulls make that projectile behavior relevant when deciding where to stand and aim.
Use nearby walls when the encounter allows it, while keeping a clear path away from incoming attacks. The damage printed on the item describes its effect; landing the projectiles remains part of getting value from it.
Before replacing your main-hand weapon, inspect Elegy's unique effect, its damage roll, and the Archfiend interactions on your supporting equipment. Apply those same checks to any Diablo 4 Items for sale you review, and choose the next upgrade by the specific interaction your Blazing Scream setup still needs. |
